Bite-size Practical Project Management

About:

This introductory-level project management course aims to de-mystify the world of project management, focusing on the practical skills, tools and techniques to help you successfully plan and deliver your clinical research projects.

Delivered as 4 x 1.5 hour live online sessions via Zoom, each focusing on a different aspect of project management. Each session consists of presented material on generic project management techniques, combined with breakout rooms, where you will discuss the techniques covered in the context of the world of clinical research

No prior knowledge of project management is required.

Objectives:

  • The project lifecycle, and the key factors that influence project success;
  • The role of the project manager, and the skills required;
  • How to clearly define your project, setting it up for the best chance of success;
  • How to construct a robust and realistic project plan;
  • Some of the tools that are available to help you organise and document your project;
  • How to evaluate and manage risks, issues and changes to scope as your project progresses;

This course is free-of-charge for staff and students of the University of Edinburgh (UoE) and NHS Lothian (NHSL) - booking is still required.
